This sounds super cool! HL2 definitly brought new technology to the floor with their wood planks :) But this sounds even better! Especially if you could offload the data crunching to something like an the ageia physx card. (which more and more titles seem to be using)

    Keep it up! more…

Perhaps you should learn a little bit more about the API before condemning it or making a claim about what it's suited for. At the very least, you should present some data backing up your 20% framerate drop claim. After all, there's a HUGE difference between 2000 -> 1600 FPS and 70 -> 56 FPS . Notice, one is a 400 fps drop, the other a 14 fps dr more…

    Hi,

Thanks for your interest in this project, it's nice to see people interested in what I'm doing.

As far as the O'Brien and Hodgins work goes, their meshes have an internal data structure and so when the full physical crack model is applied they can easily split the model.

What I'm after is to be able to imp more…

    Hi,

I am pretty interested in your development and have been following it from several weeks already. One thing that I may have overlooked but I would be interested to know is if you are going the complete model cracking idea from: Graphical Modeling and Animation of Brittle Fracture by O'Brien et all.

Yes, UV coordinates in Maya go from bottom left(0,0) to top right(1,1). Considering I work with UV coordinates, textures and modelling for games I have no idea the technical reason for this *shrugs*

Still, please to see your progressing with your work. Good luck with the dissertation :)

The D3DX Lie class can be made to use world coordinates if you use the DrawTransform method. You have to pass in the world/view/projection matrix yourself as a parameter.

    LOST
Like you I have purchased on Ebay the whole first series and am now six months ahead of the TV series.
The thugs in the boat who kidnapped the girl and blew up the raft were "real" people.
If you google "Lost" you can get up to date with the series on ABC.

I'm just dropping in to show my interest. I'm a 3D artist in the Computer games industry. although not totally technically savy We're doing a bunch of stuff for next gen consoles. At the moment I'm running maya and using OpenGL to display realtime lighting/shadows/high quality texture(with mipmaps) along with normal map and specular map display. more…

Consider a game like Battlefield 2. Technically brilliant game, how they get so much going on at the same time and maintain that framerate is unbelieveable. What I'm going to be developing is a realistic method of smashing 3D objects. Walls, tanks, teapots, you name it. What I'm doing is proof of concept that it can be done, the language that I'm w more…

aw man,,, good luck with the 3D stuff, you will have a headache for weeks... think of a 3d drawing in your head, assign some co-ords to each corner (within the 360 of course) then rotate them 170 degrees in your head whilst maintaining the true values of the co-ordinates.... honstly man, head fuck the lot of it....
